Feb. 15th, 2013 09:59 amHello, Friday!
Man, this has been a swamped and busy and really fun week. Monday, I spent the chunk of the day doing grades. What a fun day off. Meh.
Tuesday, we went to Fresno to visit school sites that are implementing some crazy cool modified PBIS system. We left at 6:45 a.m. and got back at 5:30 p.m. Even though I wasn't driving, it was really tiring. The nice parts outweighed the wonk parts, though.
Wednesday night at 6:30 I had my major award ceremony at the district level. It was very nice, was a wonderful experience, and I felt lots of love. It was SO heartening to hear my principal speak so highly of me. =D Seija went and was so polite and lovely and charming, sitting like a little lady when she needed to and showing her Clem-smile all the rest of the time. Our superintendent was quite smitten with her and kept feeding her pure frosting. She went to bed around 8 and I thought she was awake at around 8:15, so went in to give her a kiss and get her reading light out. She told me she had fallen asleep and loved me, but wanted to get back to sleeping..."night-night, Momma, you can go now."
My precious love.
Yesterday was full of VD love! I don't give a rat's ass if people celebrate VDay or not, but I do give a rat's ass if people try to spoil it for others. I personally LOVE Valentine's Day, even with its commercialism and junk. I guess I'm just able to see through the bad, ignore it, and make it fun and festive for me and my family. Like I told the childrens in my class yesterday, we should show those we love that we love them every.single.day, but there's nothing wrong with having fun on a day that celebrates love...especially if we make it unique and individual and don't succumb to pressure. The beloved showed up at my school with flowers and chocolate (the really good kind that comes with an instruction manual and decorated thingybobs). Awwww.... :))
Today, tonight, I am getting the child early, taking her home, putting comfortable clothes on, and enjoying 3-day weekend #2. I will be doing laundry tonight in the hopes of getting it all done AND PUT AWAY so I can ignore it over the weekend.
The rest of the weekend? I'm going to clean, get school stuff ready, work on writing, and find time to read. I'm hoping Paul can haul child off to a movie or something. Oh, and I have a hair appointment to get my hairs did.
I hope you have a beautiful day, people. xo
